KUALA KANGSAR, 8 June 2024 – The Centre for Testing, Measurement & Appraisal (CeTMA) recently played a pivotal role in the Leadership Camp 2024, titled "Odyssey of Junior Leaders," organized by Sekolah Kebangsaan Kati. The event took place at Inap Desa Kuala Dhal, Padang Rengas, and was a resounding success, fostering a spirit of positivity and nation-building among the young participants.
A total of 47 enthusiastic students from Years 4, 5, and 6 attended the camp. These students, who serve as prefects, head class leaders, and librarians at their school, were selected for their potential to become future leaders. CeTMA's involvement in the camp underscored its commitment to promoting sustainable development and educational excellence.
The program was spearheaded by CeTMA's Director, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Masnita Misiran, and Deputy Director, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Zahayu Md Yusof. They conducted an engaging and dynamic session focused on student-centered learning, providing valuable tips on becoming effective leaders. The emphasis was on developing self-leadership, ensuring that the students established strong core values as the foundation for their leadership journey.
One of the highlights of the camp was the focus on maintaining a balance between the mind, body, and soul. Through a series of interactive activities, students learned the importance of holistic well-being in becoming well-rounded individuals and effective leaders. The hands-on approach kept the young leaders engaged and enthusiastic throughout the program.
Feedback from the students was overwhelmingly positive. Many expressed newfound understanding and appreciation of their unique characteristics and strengths. They also recognized the importance of cherishing and utilizing these traits to lead effectively. This transformation aligns with CeTMA's mission to bridge the gap between underprivileged groups and the academic community, fostering a more inclusive and educated society.
CeTMA's participation in this initiative not only supports Sekolah Kebangsaan Kati's efforts to enhance university-school collaboration but also aligns with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). By advocating for quality education (SDG 4) and reduced inequalities (SDG 10), CeTMA is actively contributing to the sustainable development agenda.
The Leadership Camp 2024 serves as a testament to the potential of our youth and the positive impact of educational initiatives. It reflects a hopeful vision for the future, where young leaders are empowered to create meaningful change in their communities.
