The UUM Living Campus Blueprint Review Workshop proved to be a successful endeavour in advancing sustainability within Universiti Utara Malaysia (UUM).
The event, under the expert guidance of Prof. Ir. Ts. Dr. Mohd Fadhil Md Din, Director of the Campus Sustainability Office at Universiti Teknologi Malaysia, facilitated constructive discussions and strategic planning among the heads of UUM Living Campus Clusters.
Prof. Mohd Fadhil Md Din, the distinguished speaker and facilitator of the event, emphasised the need for a streamlined governance and operational approach to the Living Campus initiative. He recommended transitioning from an exhaustive action plan to a more focused and specific blueprint, while also allowing for generality and aligning it with the overarching vision and mission of UUM and Living Campus.
Additionally, Prof. Mohd Fadhil Md Din suggested developing separate documents for the development of detailed action plans, which would take place after the initiation of the blueprint and a series of roadshows.
One notable achievement of the workshop was the successful integration of UUM's sustainable agenda with the institution's six thrusts into the blueprint. This integration will act as a driving force, propelling UUM forward with a clearly defined and sustainable trajectory, underscoring the university's commitment to addressing global challenges and supporting sustainability.
The event witnessed active participation from attendees representing various departments, resulting in a wealth of pragmatic solutions to drive the UUM Living Campus initiative. The dynamic exchange of ideas and perspectives, guided by Prof. Mohd Fadhil Md Din's expertise, reaffirmed UUM's steadfast commitment to sustainability.
The UUM Living Campus Blueprint Review Workshop epitomised the university's dedication to sustainability and underscored its commitment to a greener, more environmentally conscious future. The event exemplified the power of collective collaboration and the harmonious spirit among different departments working cohesively towards realising the vision of a sustainable UUM.
As the university proceeds with the blueprint, it is better equipped to take significant strides towards becoming a prominent leader in sustainability within the academic realm.
