10 MARCH 2023: Sustainable energy has become the main agenda globally. Among the renewable energy (RE) sources, solar provides huge potential in electricity production due to the abundance of sun radiation. As tropical country Malaysia enriched with solar radiation the whole year.
Understanding that need, the Center for Testing, Measurement, and Appraisal (CeTMA) conducted a talk entitled ‘An Environment Perceptive on Solar Installation for University Campus’ on May 10th, 2023, virtually. The are two invited speakers which are Associate Prof. Ts. Dr. Mohamad Ghozali bin Hassan, chartered member (CMILT) and Dr. Shafini binti Mohd Shafiei. Both speakers are the lecturer at School of Technology Management and Logistic (STML). The objective of this talk is to show how the installation of solar can contribute to the sustainable goal especially SDG 7 (Affordable and Clean Energy) for Time Higher Education (THE) consuming renewable energy in campus operation.
There were 5 UUM staff that joined this talk. The speaker has successfully explained a brief about how they installed the solar system in UUM & Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) impact on the solar PV system. This effort by CeTMA is expected to promote the sustainability of quality education as well as affordable and clean energy.
