9 July 2023:In a bid to address the pressing environmental crisis, the Centre for Testing, Measurement & Appraisal (CeTMA) joined hands with the School of Technology Management and Logistics (STML) to organize a crucial Speak Up for Nature series, entitled "Waste Warriors: Igniting Student Action for a Sustainable Future". The event saw with over 120 participants’ concerned students from both the Universiti and local schools in attendance.
With the world facing escalating environmental challenges, it has become more vital than ever to empower our youth to take up the mantle of environmental stewardship. The distinguished panelists, Dr. Fazliza binti Che Amat, representing Pertubuhan Generasi Peduli Sampah Malaysia (GPS), Madam Erni Nerina binti Awang Salleh, from E-idaman Sdn. Bhd, and Mr. Mohammad Said, from the Forest Department Kedah, shared their expertise and insights on waste management and sustainable practices.
The event's objective was to instill actionable awareness among the participants, urging them to become proactive "Waste Warriors" in their communities. Associate Prof. Dr. Zahayu, the esteemed moderator from CeTMA, skillfully guided the discussions, emphasizing the urgency to combat the environmental crisis.
One student, expressing their reaction, stated, " it’s about how to make a real difference in protecting environment” signifying the event's impact on raising consciousness about the critical issues at hand.
As we stand at a critical juncture for our planet, it is incumbent upon each one of us to heed this urgent call to action. The time to act is now. Together, we can become the much-needed Waste Warriors and safeguard a sustainable future for generations to come. Let us rise to the challenge and be the change that our world desperately needs.
