1 June 2023: The Centre for Testing, Measurement & Appraisal (CeTMA) at the Universiti Utara Malaysia (UUM) recently organized the second installment of the UUM Living Campus Blueprint Workshop Series. The workshop aimed to consolidate and align all action plans derived from the previous Blueprint Workshop Series 1 with the original framework, vision, and mission of the Living Campus initiative.
Representatives from ten clusters participated in the workshop, engaging in productive discussions and deliberations. These clusters encompassed various critical areas, including Green Virtual Development, Smart Learning, Physical Development, Smart Administration, Innovation & Commercialization, Sustainable Community, Smart Security, Sustainable Young Talents, Research & Fund, and Risk & Disaster Management. The inclusion of these diverse clusters emphasized UUM's comprehensive approach to achieving sustainable living across its campus.
The Living Campus initiative is a strategic framework designed to ensure UUM's readiness in embracing a sustainable higher education landscape. Its objectives include building resilience, nurturing creative thinkers, humanizing innovation, and measuring sustainability performance. The workshop emphasized the importance of a critical way forward for the organization to effectively transition towards sustainable living in all aspects.
UUM aims to integrate sustainable practices throughout its campus community by implementing green virtual technologies, fostering smart learning environments, optimizing physical infrastructure, enhancing administrative efficiency, promoting innovation and commercialization, fostering a sustainable community, ensuring robust security measures, nurturing young talents, and establishing research and funding mechanisms. Additionally, the organization recognizes the significance of effective risk and disaster management to safeguard the campus and its inhabitants.
Through the Living Campus Blueprint Workshop Series, UUM harnesses the collective expertise and knowledge of its stakeholders. Going forward, the organization will prioritize sustainability in all decision-making processes, ensuring the successful implementation of the Living Campus Blueprint. This commitment will contribute to a greener, smarter, and more sustainable future for UUM and its entire community.
